Graduation Ceremony

Graduations are pinnacle events that honour the achievements and success of our students and provide you with the opportunity to reflect on and celebrate with your family and friends.

 

Step 1: Eligibility

All graduates must be conferred and selected the 'Attending' option in the Student System in order to register for an upcoming Graduation Ceremony.

Once 'Attending' has be chosen in the Student System, you will be notified on how and when to register for the event in the Graduation Booking Portal.

However, international students, Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy/ Doctorate students completing their studies in semester 2, will be invited to register for the December Graduation Ceremony before they are conferred. 

December 2025 (Adelaide) keyboard_arrow_up


You ARE eligible to attend the December Graduation Ceremonies if you:

  • Are a domestic student who has been allocated a conferral date no later than 30 October 2025 OR conferred within 12 months prior (NOTE: to be conferred, you must be completed by your college in the Student System by the conferral deadline and have a valid USI - Unique Student Identifier)
  • Are an international student who has been completed by your college in the Student System no later than 5 December 2025 and allocated a conferral date
  • Are a Doctor of Medicine student who has been completed by your college in the Student System no later than 5 December 2025 and allocated a conferral date
  • Are a higher degree by research student (Doctor of Philosophy or Doctorate) who has been completed by your college in the Student System no later than 5 December 2025 and allocated a conferral date

 

You are NOT eligible to attend the December Graduation Ceremonies if you:

  • Are a domestic student who has been allocated a conferral date after 30 October 2025
  • An international student undertaking a deferred or supplementary examination in their final semester
  • Have selected 'Not Attending - Collection', 'Not Attending - Postage', 'Not Attending - Collect By Agent' or 'Not Attending - Testamur Not Required' in the Student System, or 'Not Advised'
  • Do not have a valid USI (Unique Student Identifier) in the Student System

Students/Graduates ineligible for December 2025, will be invited to attend a graduation ceremony again in 2026.

December 2025 (Darwin) keyboard_arrow_up

To be eligible to attend the Darwin graduation ceremony, you must be a:

  • Northern Territory Medicine Program student (NTMP), or
  • Northern Territory resident, or
  • Northern Territory resident returning home.
April 2026 (Adelaide) keyboard_arrow_up


You ARE eligible to attend the April graduation ceremonies if you:

  • Have been allocated a conferral date no later than 26 March 2026 OR conferred within 12 months prior (NOTE: to be conferred, you must be completed by your College in the Student System by the conferral deadline and have a valid USI - Unique Student Identifier)

AND

  • Have selected 'Attending' in the Student System (this can only be accessed once you have been allocated a conferral date)

 

You are NOT eligible to attend the April graduation ceremonies if you:

  • Have not been allocated a conferral date
  • Are not completed by your College in the Student System by the conferral deadline for March 2026
  • Have selected 'Not Attending - Collection', 'Not Attending - Postage', 'Not Attending - Collect By Agent' or 'Not Attending - Testamur Not Required' in the Student System, or 'Not Advised'
  • Do not have a valid USI (Unique Student Identifier) in the Student System

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

From 1 January 2023, all students must have a valid USI and have updated their USI in the Student System, to be eligible for Graduation.

2025

Dates: Wednesday 17 & Thursday 18 December 2025

Location: Adelaide Convention Centre, Halls HJK

Ceremony registration will open October. All eligible graduates who have indicated in
the student system that they wish to attend a ceremony to receive their physical
testamur will be emailed details about how to book in October 2025.

When registering in the Graduation portal, please check the ceremony date, time and college.

Date: Monday 15 December 2025

Location: Darwin Convention Centre

Ceremony registration is not open. All eligible graduates who have indicated in
the student system that they wish to attend a ceremony to receive their physical
testamur will be emailed details.

Car parking

There are car parking facilities at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Please ensure you allow plenty of time to park as the Adelaide Convention Centre and city car parks often fill up quickly.

Public transport is available within the city. Please visit adelaidemetro.com.au  for more information.

Ceremony registration and academic dress collection will be available on the day, 2 hours prior to the scheduled start of the graduation ceremony.

You need to check in for your ceremony and receive your seating allocation no later than 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the ceremony. 

What to wear (academic dress) keyboard_arrow_up

Academic dress

All graduates attending a graduation ceremony are required to wear the full approved academic dress. It is made up of three parts;

  1. Gown, 
  2. Hood and 
  3. Mortarboard or bonnet.

The colour and style of your academic dress is determined by the level of qualification you are completing and the discipline you studied.  The hood colour is determined by your college.

 

Stoles

If you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Australian you are entitled to wear a stole, worn over the gown and under the hood of the academic dress for the relevant degree. You can borrow a stole for your ceremony, they will be available at academic dress collection.

 

On the day collection

The collection and return of your academic dress will be in the academic dress area on graduation day. All academic dress must be returned before leaving the Adelaide Convention Centre.

 

Providing your own academic dress

You can borrow academic dress items from friends and family, however, all items must be in the correct specification as per the Academic Dress Procedures and may be required to be approved prior to your ceremony by Graduation Services.

Guest tickets keyboard_arrow_up

 

Graduates do not need to request a ticket for themselves to attend, but must register to participate in the ceremony. 

The number of guest tickets each graduate receives depends on the total number of graduates who register to attend each ceremony and any restrictions on events leading up to graduation day. The maximum number of tickets you will be able to request will be specified in the graduation portal. Please specify the number of guest tickets you would like when registering to attend a ceremony.

All guests attending your ceremony will require a ticket, which includes carers, infants and children. Guest tickets are issued via the graduation portal. All guests that are attending must be issued their ticket prior to the ceremony, otherwise they will not be permitted entry on the day.

You may request additional tickets, however these tickets are not guaranteed. Should any additional tickets become available, you will be notified by email seven (7) days prior to your ceremony.

Graduation ceremonies last for approximately 1.5 – 2.5 hours. This does not include travel time or when graduates or guests are required to be present prior to the commencement of the ceremony.

GFP Graduations take photographs during graduation ceremonies. Packages are available to order prior to the graduation ceremony via the Graduation portal.

A photograph of your stage presentation will be available to pre order or for purchase on the day. Studios will also be available after each ceremony for individual and group photographs.

GFP Graduations will be providing framing and plaque services for graduates on graduation day!

Testamur Frames

GFP Graduations can frame a graduates certificate on Graduation Day. Graduates can choose from a variety of stylish frames designed to preserve their hard-earned testamur in pristine condition making it a proud symbol of their accomplishment for years to come. Frames are available for pre-order to save time or can be purchased on the day.

Testamur Plaques

Plaques are a beautiful replica of a graduates testamur on either a silver or gold plate mounted onto their choice of wooden or acrylic base. A plaque will certainly make a statement on any wall!

All graduation ceremonies held at the Adelaide Convention Centre are livestreamed and will be made available 4 weeks after the last ceremony.

If you are feeling unwell or experiencing cold or flu like symptoms on the day of your ceremony, it is important that you stay home and seek medical advice.  

Please email Graduation Services, graduation@flinders.edu.au including your name and student ID number, to advise that you are unable to attend as soon as possible.
