Welcome! This page is for students undertaking Flinders University courses in collaboration with a partner institution outside of Australia.
Flinders offers a range of transnational education courses with partners across Asia. Transnational education allows student to remain in their communities while studying to obtain a Flinders University degree. Transnational students enrolled in a Flinders course have access to a full range of online resources to support their studies.
You will need to activate your FAN which is your identity for accessing all Flinders systems. To activate your FAN, visit https://activate.flinders.edu.au/ and follow the prompts using the information provided by your host institution. Once you have activated your FAN, you can access the Flinders resources via the okta dashboard.
TIP – Remember to register a secondary email and phone number in case you forget your password.
Follow these steps to reset your password.
If you have not registered a secondary email, you will need to contact ids@flinders.edu.au for advice.
TIP – if you try and log in with the wrong password too many times, your account will be locked for at least sixty minutes. Take a break and try later.
Once you have commenced your studies, your host institution will provide you with a Flinders Student ID Card after you have submitted your jpeg portrait photo and have confirmed your identity.
Contact your host institution to discuss your options for replacing your student ID card.
If you enrol using MyFlinders, then view the instructions on how to officially sign up for a specific topic.
If you don’t enrol using My Flinders, approach your host institution.
Your Confirmation of Enrolment has details of both the unit values and EFTSL for each topic you are enrolled in. You can print your Confirmation of Enrolment from the Student System by using the 'View My Current Enrolment' link from the 'My Enrolment' side bar menu. Click on the 'Get my Confirmation of Enrolment by email' button to have your Confirmation of Enrolment sent to your University email address.
Contact both your host institution and your course academic coordinator to seek approval and then apply for a leave of absence.
To complete your degree, you will need to either study the same topic you failed or an alternative topic if possible with your degree. You will need to pay additional tuition fees to your host institution.
Your topic coordinator is responsible for approving assignment extensions. Instructions for requesting extensions are available in the Statement of Assessment Methods (SAM).
If you enrolled using MyFlinders, then you can withdraw there the same way you enrolled. Please be aware each topic has a census date (last day to withdraw without financial penalty). If you need to withdraw because of a change in your circumstances, contact the topic coordinator and host institution. If you didn’t enrol using My Flinders, approach your host institution.
All TNE students have the same online library access as local students. View further information.
Topics generally remain available in FLO for 365 days after the topic end date. It is recommended that you save a copy of your assignments and feedback.
There could be a number of reasons for this. You can check your browser; Flinders recommends that you use: Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. If you have persistent problems, contact IDS@flinders.edu.au
Your final grade for any topic can be viewed on the Exams tab of My Flinders. Grades appear in My Flinders after they are approved by your College so there may be a delay.
Turnitin is a text-matching software. It works by matching the text in your assignment to the internet, electronic database and other students’ work. This will identify either similar or exact matches between submitted work and other material. For more information, see the FLO student support information.
Student Learning Support Service offers support to all students in a number of areas.
You can apply to attend a ceremony in Australia. Approach your host institution on how to register your attendance well in advance.
Your will receive an official parchment, an Australian Higher Education Graduate Statement and an official copy of your academic transcript.
You can order additional copies of your official academic transcript. There are costs involved.
If the testamur you were issued with upon graduation is lost, missing, destroyed, stolen or damaged, you may apply for a replacement using the Replacement Testamur Application Form.
Flinders has a program for alumni wanting to access library resources.
Your FAN will remain active for the full calendar year in which you are enrolled in one or more topics. If you are eligible to enrol, but do not enrol as a student in the following year your email access will continue to be provided until you are no longer eligible to enrol (usually on first of October of that year).
Your FAN will remain active for one calendar year after you graduate. You will receive a notification 14 days prior to your account being deactivated.
