Here you can find general information regarding the insurance cover applicable to a range of common University activities.

Please note, insurance cover is subject to the terms, conditions, limits, exclusions and excesses of the various policies.

Student travel insurance

Research projects / clinical trials

The University has insurance protection in place for staff and students undertaking approved research activity.

To ensure your research project is covered you must:

Obtain all necessary ethics & site approvals
Contact us via email if your project:
- is a clinical trial
- involves any overseas activity

If you require evidence of insurance cover for your research project, please send an email to riskandinsurance@flinders.edu.au.

Transporting equipment for research purposes

If transit of equipment is required as part of your research project, it is a condition of cover that you report the transit to Risk & Assurance Services.

To report a transit, please contact us via email. Please include the following detail in your request:

origin and destination
departure and return dates
value of equipment

Work Integrated Learning, placements and internships

Students participating in University approved Work Integrated Learning, placements and internship activities are covered under various University insurance policies as may be relevant to the particular activity, including:

Public Liability
Professional Indemnity
Medical Malpractice
Student Personal Accident
Travel insurance (if the activity involves a Journey of over 50km from the campus)
