Student ID cards

Finances and administration Student ID cards

Your Student ID card is an important part of life on campus.

You will use the same student ID card throughout your time at Flinders.  Your student ID card will display whether you are a part-time or full-time student for the current Semester.

ID cards are an official, regulated form of identification, able to be used in governed identity checks, and each is fitted with a unique microchip technology connecting the user with the card. A card is issued upon commencement at the University to verify identity and ensure building and library access is restricted to the eligible user.

It is important to make sure you carry your student ID card whenever you are on campus as you will need it to:

  • borrow books from the library
  • load credit for photocopying and printing on campus
  • attend exams
  • obtain an academic transcript
  • benefit from student transport concessions and discounts
  • access Flinders University buildings*
  • attend student-organised functions.

*For after-hours access of the Central Library/Hub (before 8am and after 5pm on weekdays as well as weekend access), please visit on-campus security with your student ID card to get it updated. For any special building access requests, please submit Service One request.

Your student ID card

Ordering your new Student ID card

You can order your student ID card online 1 month prior to the start of your classes by selecting ‘Order my ID Card’ from your Okta dashboard.

Note:  If you have enrolled within the last 24 hours there may be a delay before you can request an ID card.

If you elect to have your card posted, it will be sent to the preferred mailing address recorded in the Student System.  Please check these details before ordering your card.

Refer to ID cards for continuing students, ID cards for returning students or replacing your card if you have previously had a Student ID card.

Ordering your ID card

Collecting your ID card

When
9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday, (9:30am - 5pm, Wednesday)

Where
Flinders Connect (Level 0, Central Library)

What to bring
Please bring photo identification with you when you collect your ID card.

ID cards for continuing students

If you are a continuing student, you will use the same student ID card you received when you first started at Flinders*.

If your student ID card has expired or is close to expiry, we can provide you with an updated enrolment sticker that can be placed over your old expiry date (the new expiry is reflected based on your enrolment for that year) and you can either:

1. Collect these either in person at Flinders Connect (Level 0, Central Library, Bedford Park Campus) or

2. We can mail them to you upon request (requests can be made via an Ask Flinders request – all we need is for you to confirm your preferred mailing address).

The staff at Flinders Connect will check your enrolment and provide you with a sticker to extend your student ID card. If you enrol for semester one only, your student ID card will be extended until the end of that semester. You can extend your ID card for the remainder of the year once you enrol in semester 2 topics in addition to your Semester 1 enrolment.

*If you haven’t ordered/received an ID card before, please refer to Ordering your new student ID card.

ID cards for returning students

For returning students only, please submit an Ask Flinders request with the following information/documentation:

·         Your student ID number

·         When you last studied at Flinders University (to the best of your knowledge)

·         Whether you would like to collect your student ID card or have it delivered*

·         A current passport-style photo of yourself (for your new student ID card)

·         A photo/scan of your photo identification (e.g., passport, driver’s license, proof of age card etc)

Based on the information/documents you provide we can assess your eligibility for a new ID card and organize printing for collection/delivery* if eligible.

*ID cards can be collected at Flinders Connect (Level 0, Central Library, Bedford Park campus) and for deliveries, please confirm your preferred mailing address in your request email.

Replacing a lost, stolen or damaged ID card

Lost or stolen ID Card

To replace a lost or stolen card, you will need to place an order through our Flinders Online Payments system and choose to have your card posted to you or to collect it from Flinders Connect.  Please note that there is a $10 replacement fee associated with re-printing your ID card.  Please bring your receipt and some photo ID with you if you choose to collect your card.

If you would like to have your photo updated prior to placing an order for a replacement ID card, please submit an Ask Flinders request with information regarding why you are providing a photo (e.g., Hi! I’m wanting to order a replacement ID card but before I do, could you please update my photo with the one attached?).

Damaged ID card

If your student ID card is damaged and requires replacing, please present the old card to Flinders Connect for a replacement free of charge.

Ordering a clinical/placement badge

If you have a placement as part of your degree (such as Education, Nursing or Social Work) and require a placement badge, you can find instructions on how to order one here.
