BOOTCAMP GROUP 1: Get back on track with the basics

We understand there’s a lot of information provided at the start of Semester and it’s easy to get off track, or to be unsure how to progress. But don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. If you’d like a refresher on how to get started with university study, then Bootcamp 1 is for you! Join the friendly staff from the Student Learning Support Service and the Library to learn more about how to be successful at Flinders. Throughout the session, they will cover:

  • How to use FLO and Canvas.
  • Understanding assignments, including explaining what key documents such as Statement of Assessment Methods (SAMs) and rubrics are, and how they are essential to assignment success.
  • Relevant support services – what they are, when you might use them and how to access them.
  • Study planning skills and getting organised with tasks and deadlines.
  • Tips and tricks on finding information for your assignments including: borrowing, self-help, accessing findit (Library’s catalogue), and an introduction to what databases look like.

You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions along the way, and to practise these new skills at the session!

BOOTCAMP GROUP 2: Master key academic skills to improve your assignments

If you’ve gotten off to a good start at university but would like more support to improve your assignment skills, then we can help with that too! Bring your assignments to this session, and work alongside the Student Learning Support Service and the Library who will teach you how to:

  • Locate relevant academic and wellbeing support services to achieve your study goals.
  • Go more in-depth with searching the Library including finding information in databases to locate the most relevant sources for your assignments.
  • Correctly paraphrase and reference sources in your assignments.
  • Write clearly and effectively throughout your assignments.

You’ll get a chance to apply your knowledge directly to your own assignments and ask questions along the way!
