For students experiencing financial difficulties, there is a range of services and financial assistance you may be eligible to receive, including one of the following financial help options from the Flinders University Student Association (FUSA).
Emergency financial assistance
Who is eligible? Any currently enrolled student.
Benefits: Supermarket vouchers, food parcels, and metro cards.
What you need to do: Call FUSA on 8201 2371 or go to the FUSA Office to enquire.
Interest free loan
Who is eligible? Any currently enrolled student.
Loan amount: Up to $500.
What you need to do: Complete the Student Assist online form and book an appointment with an advocate to discuss.
Development grant
Who is eligible? Any enrolled student wanting to participate in an activity that focuses on professional development, student representation and leadership, through to opportunities that are culturally and socially significant.
Value: $800
What you need to do: Keep an eye out for Grant promotion (Ping!, Flinders and FUSA social media, etc.) in February and July each year, then go to the FUSA website to apply online.
Financial hardship grant
Who is eligible? Any student enrolled in second year of study and above.
Value: $500
What you need to do: Keep an eye out for Grant promotion (Ping!, Flinders and FUSA social media, etc.) in July each year, then go to the FUSA website to apply online.
Financial counselling
Who is eligible? Any currently enrolled student.
What type of help can you receive? Information and assistance on all things financial and help to find ways to improve your financial situation, see financial advocacy for more details.
What you need to do: Complete the Student Assist online form and book an appointment with an advocate to discuss.
Free tax returns
Who is eligible? Any currently enrolled student who meets the Australian Tax Office (ATO) eligibility criteria.
What you need to do: FUSA hosts ATO volunteers each year from August to October, call FUSA on 8201 2371 during this period to make an appointment.
