Accepting your offer

Congratulations on receiving an offer to study at Flinders University.

It is important you follow the steps outlined in your offer letter to secure your place in your course.

Before you accept

You will need:

  • Your offer letter
  • To have activated your FAN

Please ensure that you make a selection in the drop down above with what type of student you are to see the steps below.

Step 1: Your offer

If you have received an offer from SATAC

If your application to study at Flinders University is successful, you will receive an email with your offer letter from SATAC on behalf of Flinders.

  • If you have received an offer to your first preference, this will automatically be accepted on your behalf in your SATAC application. You will still need to proceed to Step 2 to formally accept the offer with Flinders.
  • If you received an offer to a lower preference, you will be required to respond to the offer via SATAC to indicate you accept and still wish to be considered for your higher preference(s). If you don’t, SATAC will assume you don’t want to be considered for higher preferences. You cannot be considered for your higher preferences until you respond to your offer.
  • If you are a postgraduate applicant, you do not need to respond to your offer in your SATAC application as this is done automatically for you.

It is important to read your offer letter carefully as it contains important information about how to accept your offer and may include an enrolment deadline to secure your place in your course.

If you have received your offer direct from Flinders University

If your application to study at Flinders University is successful, you will receive an email with your offer letter directly from Flinders.

It is important to read your offer letter as it contains important information about how to accept your offer and may include an enrolment deadline to secure your place in your course.

Step 2: Accept your offer

If you are happy with your offer, most courses will require you to accept it. Receiving an offer from SATAC or directly from the University does not secure your place with Flinders.

To formally accept your offer, you need to:

  1. Log in to the Student System.
  2. Select the ‘My Offers’ tab.
  3. Click on the ‘View/Respond to my Offer’ link on the left hand menu.
  4. The ‘My Applications’ window will display all offers awaiting a response.
  5. Click on ‘Respond’ for the offer you wish to accept

If you do not wish to commence studying straight away, you may be eligible defer your offer for a full calendar year of study. Flinders can hold your place in a deferrable course for up to two consecutive years. Visit www.flinders.edu.au/defer for more information.

Step 3: Enable multi-factor authentication

After you have accepted your offer (following the steps outlined above), you are required to enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) on your mobile device to increase the security of your Flinders’ account.

We strongly recommend you set up MFA on multiple devices, so you also have a backup if you don't have your mobile device on you, or in emergencies such as a lost or broken device.

Follow the link below to enable MFA on multiple devices and for answers to frequently asked questions.

Enable MFA

*Note if you do not do this step now, you will be prompted to do this next time you go to log in to a Flinders University system.

Step 1: Your offer

If your application to study at Flinders University is successful, you will receive an Offer of Admission to a course at Flinders. Your offer will be emailed to you. You can also view it in our International Application System if you applied yourself, or your agent will have a copy if you applied via an agent.

If you would like to defer your offer, please refer to the information below.

Undergraduate

If you applied for an undergraduate degree, you will have received an Offer of Admission for the highest preference for which you were qualified.

Postgraduate

If you applied for a postgraduate course (Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters, or PhD), you may receive a pathway Offer of Admission.

Step 2: Accept your offer

To accept your Offer of Admission, you need to indicate this through our International Application System. Please ensure you upload your signed acceptance form along with any other documents requested as part of your offer. Failure to attach all of the relevant information may result in a delay in processing your acceptance.

Some courses may require you to accept your offer by a deadline and this information will be confirmed in your offer letter.

The Flinders International Admissions team will review these documents and advise of any further required documentation.

Step 3: Pay your deposit

Your initial payment is due once you have accepted your Offer of Admission. You will be redirected to the Western Union Payment Gateway once you accept your offer in our International Application System. Your Offer of Admission will contain details regarding how much your initial payment will be.

Some courses may require you to pay your deposit by a deadline. This information will be confirmed in your offer letter.

At this time, you must also pay your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) visa. If you are pre-arranging your own OSHC, please ensure you provide evidence to us as soon as possible.

After you have made your initial payment, remaining payments must be made by the topic due date. Students are charged per topic, based on their enrolment.

Step 4: Activate your FAN

Once your payment has been processed, we will issue you with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). Once you have received this, you will be able to activate your FAN (Flinders username) to start accessing University systems and services.

Your FAN is unique to you. Your FAN and password give you access to IT services, like email, the Student System and Flinders WiFi.

Step 5: Enable multi-factor authentication

After you have activated your FAN, you are required to enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) on your mobile device to increase the security of your Flinders’ account.

We strongly recommend you set up MFA on multiple devices, so you also have a backup if you don't have your mobile device on you, or in emergencies such as a lost or broken device.

Follow the link below to enable MFA on multiple devices and for answers to frequently asked questions.

Frequently asked questions

I accepted an offer from Flinders but have now accepted an offer for a higher preference. What do I do?

If you have enrolled in the course you were initially offered, ensure you withdraw from all topics before the census date to avoid incurring student contribution fees and a negative academic record.

I have received an offer from another university, but am waiting to see if Flinders offers me my higher preference. Should I accept the lower preference just in case I don't get an offer from Flinders?

Your preferences should include any and all courses for which you would accept an offer to study. While we’d love for you to study with us, if you get an offer to a lower preference at another university, you should accept the offer. However, when accepting the offer, remember to indicate that you still wish to be considered for your higher Flinders University preference(s). This will ensure you secure a place in a course you want to study, while keeping your options open.

I have received an offer with conditions I need to meet. What happens next?

Some applicants are made offers to a course on a conditional basis. The details of the condition(s) will be stated in your offer letter.
Conditions may include the requirement to complete the course you are currently enrolled in by a deadline and/or to maintain or achieve a certain Grade Point Average.

Applicants with a conditional offer will not be able to enrol in topics in the course until the condition has been met as per the details stated in the offer letter.

What if I don't want to accept my offer?

If you wish to be considered for another course, you need to respond to your offer through SATAC if it is not your first preference and/or change your preferences.

Alternatively, if your offer was made directly from the University, return to the Student System and submit another application for your preferred course.
