Check your letter of offer to see if your course can be deferred. We can hold your place in a deferrable course for up to two consecutive years.

Deferring your offer

Part 1: Your offer

If your application to study a course at Flinders University is successful, you’ll receive an Offer of Admission.

I applied myself

If you submitted the application yourself, you can see your offer letter in your email or access it in our International Application System (Studylink).

I applied via an agent

If you applied through an agent, they'll have a copy of your offer letter.

Distance students

  1. Undergraduate course
  2. Postgraduate course

If you applied for an undergraduate degree, you'd have received an Offer of Admission for the highest preference for which you were qualified.

If you applied for a postgraduate course (Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters, or PhD), you may receive a pathway Offer of Admission.

Part 2: Accept your offer

You need to accept your Offer of Admission through our International Application System (Studylink).

Please remember to upload your signed acceptance form along with any other documents we've requested. If we don't receive all documents, it might take a little longer to process your acceptance. Make sure you've provided all the requested documents so we can process your acceptance without delay.

Then, we will review your documents and let you know if you need to provide anything further.

*Some courses may require you to accept your offer by a due date. If applicable, this information will be stated in your offer letter.

Want to defer your offer? keyboard_arrow_up

If you'd like to defer your studies, meaning you'll start at a later semester:

  • With your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), request and seek approval from Flinders International. To do so, please submit an Ask Flinders request and provide evidence of compassionate or compelling circumstances.
  • If you don’t have a CoE, you can submit a deferral request to start at a later semester intake by emailing intladmissions@flinders.edu.au. Make sure to include your Flinders Student ID number in all your writing to us!

Important note

The following courses are not deferrable:

  • Bachelor of Medical Science (Vision Science)/Master of Optometry
  • Bachelor of Midwifery (Pre-Registration).

Applications for deferral will be reassessed according to the University's Genuine Student guidelines.

For more information, visit:

International students

Part 3: Pay your deposit

Your initial payment is due once you have accepted your Offer of Admission. You’ll be redirected to the Flywire Payment Gateway once you accept your offer using our International Application System (Studylink). The Offer of Admission will specify how much your initial payment will be.

Please note that some courses might ask for your deposit to be paid by a specific due date, which will be confirmed in your offer letter.

You must also pay your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) visa payment at this time. If you’re arranging your own OSHC in advance, please make sure to send us the proof as soon as you can.

Once you've made your initial payment, remaining balances must be paid by the topic due date. As a student, you're billed per topic according to your enrolment, making it easy to keep track of payments!

Part 4: Activate your Flinders University account

Once your payment has been processed, we’ll issue you a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).

After that, you need to activate your Flinders University account which includes your Flinders Authentication Name (FAN) and Student ID number. You need your FAN to access important information and systems such as borrowing library books, submitting assignments, connecting to campus WiFi and more. Think of your FAN as your personal username at Flinders.

Part 5: Set up multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Now that you've activated your Flinders University account, we encourage you to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) on your mobile device. For added security and peace of mind, it's a good idea to enable MFA on more than one device. That way, you'll have a backup if you don't have your mobile with you or in case of emergencies like a lost or broken device.

Click the link below to learn more about MFA.

Set up MFA

*Note if you do not do this step now, you will be prompted to do this next time you go to log in to a Flinders University system.

Part 6: Apply for your visa

You can apply for a visa once you have your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).

Please note that your visa application may be delayed or refused, if you don't provide:

  • a CoE
  • a OSHC Verification Letter
  • a detailed statement of purpose
  • any other requested documentation.

For guidance, visit the Department of Immigration and Border Protection's Visa Finder find the best Australian visa most likely to meet your specific circumstances. To lodge a complete visa application for prompt assessment, please refer to the visa application information page.

You can also ask an education agent to assist you with your student visa application.

Part 7: Prepare for your departure

The international student guide contains all the information you'll need to prepare for your exciting new life in Australia and your studies at Flinders.

After finalising your flight plans, just let the International Student Services (ISS) team know your arrival details by filling out the arrival booking form. They'll be there to welcome you at Adelaide Airport and to help you organise transport to your accomodation.

Completed the steps above?

Congratulations – you've been admitted into your course! 🎉

Frequently asked questions

What should I do if I can't find my offer in the Student System? keyboard_arrow_up

SATAC offers

If you receive an offer for a lower preference, SATAC will accept it on your behalf and show that you remain interested in your higher preferences. You'll still need to go to the ‘Accept offer’ page to formally accept your offer with Flinders.

Still need help with SATAC offers or direct offers from Flinders University?

Whether you've received an offer from SATAC or from Flinders, please contact Flinders Connect if you need additional support in accepting your offer.

I accepted an offer from Flinders but have now accepted an offer for a higher preference. What do I do? keyboard_arrow_up

If you've enrolled in the course you were initially offered, ensure you withdraw from all topics before the census date to avoid incurring student contribution fees and a negative academic record.

I have received an offer from another university, but am waiting to see if Flinders offers me my higher preference. Should I accept the lower preference just in case I don't get an offer from Flinders? keyboard_arrow_up

Your preferences should include any and all courses for which you would accept an offer to study. While we’d love for you to study with us, if you get an offer to a lower preference at another university, you should accept the offer. However, when accepting the offer, remember to indicate that you still wish to be considered for your higher Flinders University preference(s). This will ensure you secure a place in a course you want to study, while keeping your options open.

I have received an offer with conditions I need to meet. What happens next? keyboard_arrow_up

Some applicants are made offers to a course on a conditional basis. The details of the condition(s) will be stated in your offer letter.
Conditions may include the requirement to complete the course you are currently enrolled in by a deadline and/or to maintain or achieve a certain Grade Point Average.

Applicants with a conditional offer will not be able to enrol in topics in the course until the condition has been met as per the details stated in the offer letter.

What if I don't want to accept my offer? keyboard_arrow_up

If you wish to be considered for another course, you need to respond to your offer through SATAC if it is not your first preference and/or change your preferences.

Alternatively, if your offer was made directly from the University, return to the Student System and submit another application for your preferred course.
