Ping! is the all-student e-newsletter from Flinders University.
The newsletter provides a regular channel for staff to communicate important (not-time critical) information to students. It also gives students an opportunity to share relevant information and activities with the wider student community.
We know students are busy and have so much to read already. So, the aim of Ping! is to help reduce the number of emails sent from the University. Ping! collates the fortnightly news and events into one email with bite sized chunks of information to read at a glance.
Ping! is also segmented by College and international and domestic student status. This means students will only see information relevant to them.
Ping! is the student newsletter from Flinders University. Sent fortnightly on the first and third Wednesday during semesters to all current Flinders University students.
(If a public holiday falls on a Wednesday, Ping is distributed the following business day).
Ping! is one way Flinders is improving communication to students.
Students have told us they receive too many emails from the University, making it difficult for them to know what is relevant and what is not.
The purpose of Ping! is to help streamline communication from the University. Ping! provides a regular channel for important (yet non-time critical) information to be distributed by the University. Its structure means information can be seen at a glance, with links to more detail, if required.
Information in Ping! is tailored to specific student groups.
Ping! is tailored to different student groups. This helps ensure information students receive, is relevant to them.
Firstly, it’s tailored by College, meaning students only see information relating to the College(s) in which they are admitted. For example: information about a College of Business, Government and Law movie night will only display in the version of Ping! sent to students studying a course within the College of Business, Government and Law.
Secondly, Ping! is tailored by international or domestic student status. This means the ‘international news’ section will only display in the version of Ping! sent to international students.
Ping! provides a channel for students to distribute information to other students.
Until now there have been limited ways in which students can communicate with other students about events or initiatives important to them. Ping! provides a channel for students to share relevant information with the wider student community.
The Flinders University Student Engagement and Success team collates Ping! each fortnight, based on article submissions received from Flinders staff and students.
All students are encouraged to provide feedback about content and any ideas for improvement to Student Experience.
All students can submit articles anytime using the article submission form online.
Flinders staff and students can submit articles for Ping! using the article submission form.
