Student calendar

Last day to enrol

The last day to enrol in topics and register in classes is the Friday of teaching week 2 in each semester. In 2025 these dates are:

  • 14 March 2025 for semester 1 topics
  • 8 August 2025 for semester 2 topics

These dates do not apply to courses where enrolment deadlines have been specified.

For non-semester and summer topics, the last day to enrol in topics and register in classes is the last day of teaching or census date, whichever date is earlier. See the Handbook for the last day to enrol in your topics.

Payment due date

The due date to pay upfront student contribution amounts, tuition fees and student services and amenities fees is the Friday of teaching week 2 in each semester. In 2025 these dates are:

  • 14 March 2025 for semester 1 topics
  • 8 August 2025 for semester 2 topics

For non-semester and summer topics, the payment due date is the first day of teaching or two weeks prior to the census date, whichever date is later. Once you have completed your enrolment, you can view your fees in the 'My Finances' tab in the Student System, which can be accessed via your Flinders dashboard.

Census date

The census date for a topic is the last day on which a student can withdraw from topics without incurring student contribution amounts (Commonwealth supported student), tuition fees (fee-paying student) and student services and amenities fees. Topics withdrawn by this date will not appear on the academic transcript.

Undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students

The census date is the Friday of teaching week 5 in each semester. In 2025, these census dates are:

  • 4 April 2025 for semester 1 topics
  • 29 August 2025 for semester 2 topics

2025 summer & non-semester topics

The census date for summer & non-semester topics in 2025 is the Friday after 20% of the combined teaching and assessment period has elapsed. **

**For some very short intensives, the census date is the day after 20% of the combined teaching and assessment period has lapsed, unless this day falls on a weekend, in which case the census date will be the following Monday.

Census dates appear on your Confirmation of Enrolment. This can be printed from the Student System by selecting 'View My Current Enrolment' from the 'My Enrolment' tab. See the Handbook for the census dates of your topics.

Higher degree by research

The census dates in 2025 are:

  • 29 June 2025 for enrolment in the period 1 January to 30 June; and
  • 30 December 2025 for enrolment in the period 1 July to 31 December

  • 16 May 2025 for semester 1 topics
  • 10 October 2025 for semester 2 topics

For non-semester and summer topics, the last day to withdraw without failure is the day which is 2/3 through the teaching period for the topic or the Census date, whichever date is later. See the Handbook for the last day to withdraw without failure from your topics.
