Update your details

Check your details are correct in the Student System;

  • Unique Student Identifier (USI),
  • Formal name,
  • Phonetic name,
  • Address and
  • Email address.

This should be updated in your final semester of your studies in preparation for conferral and to attend a graduation ceremony.

Access the Student System

Step 1: Add your Unique Student Identifier (USI)

.

From 1 January 2023, the Australian government requires you to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). If your USI is not recorded in the Student System before your degree/award is allocated to a conferral, you will ineligible to;

  • have your degree/award conferred, and
  • attend a Graduation ceremony.
Create your USI

If you do not have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) you will need to create a USI before completing your degree/award.

Create your USI

Update your USI details

Once you have your Unique Student Identifier (USI), you will need to update your USI details in the Student System.

To update your USI please follow the instructions below:

  1. Log in to the Student System
  2. Select 'My Forms'
  3. Select 'Enter/ update Unique Student Identifier'
  4. Update USI

Update your USI

What is a Unique Student Identifier (USI) ?

A USI is your individual Australian education number that you will have for life. It creates an online record of your Australian education and training achievements.

Step 2: Check your formal name is correct

Your name will be printed on your testamur (certificate), academic transcript and Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS), exactly as it appears in the Student System.

If your formal name is incorrect, you will need to update it. Please ensure your formal name is correct in preparation for conferral, as replacement fees will incur if not updated in time.

The formal name is what is used to be read out on stage at your graduation ceremony.

Can I change my formal name before the deadline?

Your formal name can be updated at any time and you do not need to wait for the deadline to start the process. The earlier you can update your details, the better!

Step 3: Add your phonetic name

If you would like to attend a graduation ceremony, please fill in the phonetic name field in the Student System. Your phonetic name is what the ceremony reader will use to help with the pronunciation of your name when you are called on stage.

Example: Stephen Damon Smith is "Stee-ven Day-mon Smith"

What is a phonetic name?

Phonetic name is writing your first and last names as they sound, not as they are written.

Step 4: Ensure your preferred address is correct

Please check your address in the Student System, and ensure you have nominated the correct 'preferred address'.

We will use your preferred address to send any documents, such as your testamur, to you.

Step 5: Check your preferred email address

I've updated my details. What is next?

Please proceed to 'Conferral' to complete the steps you need to take before graduating, to ensure it all runs smoothly.
