  • Flinders provides online programs to teach you how to better manage psychological issues. These can be completed in your own time.
  • Explore the range of resources available through the Centre for Clinical Interventions. You may find these helpful when anxiety or worry becomes excessive, feels uncontrollable or intrusive in your life.
  • There are many different coping strategies available when trying to work through problems. Download the Coping Plan app which guides you through the process of creating a plan to follow during times of distress. The app is available for free download from the Apple Store or Google Play.

  • Alternitavely, The Sleep Foundation is Australia’s leading advocate for healthy sleep and helping people to understand the value of getting a good night’s sleep. They have prepared a number of fact sheets about sleep related topics available for free download.

  • Being self-critical isn’t always bad but it needs to be balanced with self-compassion. Learn more about self-compassion from one of the leading people in the field, Kristin Neff.
  • Consider getting hold of the self-help book ‘Overcoming Perfectionism’, co-authored by Flinders Professor Tracey Wade.
  • For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, the Journey of Health and Wellbeing Resource animated video can help you understand the impacts of internalised oppression and support your healing journey.

  • The Flinders University Student Association (FUSA) run a number of clubs and societies that are a great way to meet likeminded students. Consider joining a club in an area of interest to you.
  • Consider joining one of Flinders’ many sporting clubs.
  • Find like-minded students at professional development seminars run by Horizon. Consider signing up to the program and attending some events.

  • Feedback can be painful to receive at times, but is important for learning, and is a common part of professional life. You can watch this video to help understand the purpose of feedback and how to use it to your advantage.
  • Read through your feedback, then put it aside for a few days. Then come back and read through it again, focus on the key areas for improvement.

There are a number of services in the community which deal specifically with domestic or relational violence that you can contact.

  • 1800RESPECT understands that everyone's experience of sexual, domestic or family violence is different. Whatever your situation, it is important to know that help and support are available. They will work with you to help identify what you can do and to find the right support services for you. Everyone's situation is different and no one knows your situation better than you.
    They can be contacted by phone on 1800 737 732 or online chat, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Blue Knot Helpline is a specialist service. Their counsellors provide empathetic, informative and empowering support for adult survivors of childhood trauma and abuse. They can be contacted by phone 7 days a week between 9-5pm on 1300 657 380 or email helpline@blueknot.org.au.
    They also provide support if you live with disability and have you experienced abuse, neglect, violence or exploitation. Call them on 1800 421 468 to contact their National Counselling & Referral Service.
  • The National Disability Abuse and Neglect Hotline is an Australian-wide telephone hotline for reporting abuse or neglect of people with disability – call them on 1800 880 052.
  • Flinders provides free and confidential counselling sessions  (up to 6 sessions per year) that are available to all undergraduate and postgraduate students, including students studying entirely online. Our qualified, experienced counsellors can help with domestic violence or abuse issues.

  • Enrolling in, changing and withdrawing from topics is completed through the Student System which is accessible via the student website.
  • If you are considering withdrawing from a topic at any stage, here are some things you will need to be aware of and think through.
  • Prior to withdrawing from topics, ensure you have checked the critical enrolment dates to avoid fee charges and academic penalties.

I'm not sure I've made the right choice about my degree

  • Once you are studying an undergraduate degree at Flinders, it’s possible for you to change to another course. You may be able to apply for credit transfer for some of the topics you have completed.
