Now it's time to request your enrolment (thesis only students) or enrol in topics and register for classes (coursework students).
Just prior to your Start Date, the HDR Admissions Team will manually admit you into your course, enrol you into your thesis topic and email you an Enrolment Verification with details of your candidature.
Once you have completed your enrolment, you can organise your Student ID card. You’ll need your ID to:

Please note: if you are an international student who has commenced study offshore, you will need to wait until you have arrived in Australia to collect your ID card.
At this meeting you and your supervisor/s should negotiate the expectations of supervision for your candidature, such as regularity of meetings, project structure, work submission guidelines, including types of feedback. You can discuss the college's expectations and HDR milestones, especially the Confirmation of Candidature.
Your supervisors will provide academic support, ensuring your thesis is planned properly and written to expected standards. They’ll also help you adhere to Flinders University’s milestone and thesis submission timeframes.
The college is responsible for providing you with resources for your candidature. Arrange to meet the college's administrative staff to gain access to additional resources that maybe available for you. They will assist you to settle in after you meet with your supervisor. The HDR college contacts will be able to help you with your enquiries.
If your research involves working in a laboratory, ensure that you meet with the relevant college laboratory staff and participate in college/laboratory WHS inductions.
Master of Clinical Education by Research and Master of Health and Clinical Research students will be emailed an Admission Confirmation and can then self-enrol.
Tip: Have your course rule and study planner with you when you go to enrol.

Topics will appear with a blue background if they are available for enrolment. Some will have a preselected semester if they are only offered in a singular study period or location. Other topics may have their own drop-down menu where you need to select a study period or location.
To select the topics you wish to enrol in, tick the corresponding box on the right-hand side of the page and follow the prompts to finalise your enrolment. Once you have enrolled, you can register in classes (if applicable).

You’ll be able to register in classes once you’ve enrolled in topics. Class registration is done via the 'My Timetable' tab of the Student System.
It's important to register in classes as soon as possible, to help secure the university timetable that works best for you.

Registering for classes
Your topics deliver a range of materials through Flinders Learning Online (FLO). You can access each of your topic FLO sites via the 'my course' section of Compass.
Access to enrolled topics in FLO is made available to you one week before teaching begins. You can view the teaching dates via the topic page - access this via the Topic link in the 'my course' section of Compass.

The appearance of your topics may vary, however your Topic Coordinator and FLO Student Support are able to assist. You can view your Topic Coordinator details via the 'my course' section of Compass.

Course rules detail the program of study and the admission, progression, thesis and assessment requirements of your course. You are responsible for ensuring you follow these rules.

Please note that attendance at some classes forms part of the assessment for the topic. In the event that you have selected topics that have clashing class times, the Student System will allow you to 'clash' classes, ie register in two classes at the same time for different topics.
It is your responsibility to ensure you meet the attendance requirements for your topics. This may require you to attend a repeat lecture, or if the lecture is recorded, watch or listen to the lecture at a later stage (recordings will be made available on FLO for some topics). To check whether your lecture will be recorded, contact your lecturer or topic coordinator. If the lecture will not be recorded, you will need to contact email your College administrative officer to discuss your options.
You may apply for Special Consideration when the only class(es) you can attend are unavailable to you (due to being full). Students who can attend at alternative times need not apply.

An application will not guarantee you a place in your requested class.
