Careers service

The Careers and Employability team is committed to remaining proactive in delivering career development and graduate opportunities in the safest possible environment.

To keep providing this service, while ensuring the safety of students, staff, and industry partners, the team will be providing careers sessions and events online via a new
Careers and Employability FLO topic at this time.

You can also access a wide variety of online career and professional development resources through

Flinders Support Network

We know that sometimes the pressures of University and personal life can become hard to manage, but it’s important to remember that Flinders University has a wide variety of academic, financial and wellbeing support available to help you.

Given the uncertain times we are facing due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, it’s more important now, more than ever, to reach out and use this support if you need it.

If you would like a Flinders staff member to contact you to provide more information about the support available, please complete this brief Flinders Support Network questionnaire (only takes a minute). Someone from the Student Experience team will be in contact within a few days.

You can still access computers on campus

If you do not have access to the computing equipment you need to study at home, you can still access computers at Bedford Park (map ref J9), the Sturt Precinct (map ref V5) and at FMC (map ref O12). In line with current health and government advice, we have increased spacing between the computers at these locations, so they meet social distancing recommendations. We are also asking users to practice excellent hygiene in these public spaces. These areas are also being cleaned more frequently and we have installed extra hand sanitiser in these areas for your use. Visit here for opening hours.

If you have the equipment you need, but are struggling to adjust to online learning, you are not alone. Visit our FLO topic
Finding Your Way at Flinders for information about navigating the online learning environment. We will also be including information in upcoming editions of Ping! to help you successfully study online.

COVID-19: Information

To stay up-to-date with the latest information from Flinders University about COVID-19 (Coronavirus) visit the students website.
Support our campus retail

If you’re on campus, please support our local family business retailers wherever you can. It’s a challenging time for everyone and our retailers are doing their best to remain open for now.

At this point in time you can find the following retailers still trading:
  • Café Bon Voyage
  • Daily Kitchen Co
  • Grind & Press
  • Local Brew Coffee
  • Mr Wuhu
  • Parwana
  • Pharmacy
  • Post Office
  • Tavern
  • Tolys
  • Urban Paddock Co
Please note as the situation changes, retailers may choose to close at short notice and opening hours may be reduced. If you’re around, they’d love your support!

Home food ideas

Struggling for ideas about what to eat while spending more time at home. Check out the first of our food blogs on our Student Wellbeing blog page.  There is a lot great health and wellbeing articles on this page with many more to follow soon, so be sure to check it out.

Stay social

Our online social channels have become more important than ever for keeping in touch with one another. In these difficult times it's nice to have some sense of normality so we will continue to be running fun competitions with prizes. Get involved on Instagram or Facebook!

There is still time to share your favourite place to study online

Our competition to share your favourite study location is still running. Show us where you like to study tagging us @hey_flinders and use the hashtag #flindersonline for your chance to win one of three $20 shopping vouchers. Winners will be announced in the next edition of Ping!

It’s an uncertain time for us all, as we try to cope with the new circumstances related to COVID-19. Especially now we need to take good care of ourselves, others and the community.

The SAHMRI Wellbeing and Resilience Centre has partnered with EPSW’s Flinders University Institute for Mental Health and Wellbeing to design a new 5-week online program, The Be Well Plan: Participation in this program will help you cope in difficult times, and equip you with resources and effective skills that can be tailored to your specific needs.

When and where is it happening?
The program will run over five weeks, and workshops will be conducted online.

Please note that limited places are available.

Two concurrent workshops are offered on:

  • Thursdays 9am-11am (beginning Thursday the 2nd of April) | BOOK HERE
  • Tuesdays 2-4pm (beginning Tuesday the 7th of April) | BOOK HERE
What am I signing up for?
The Be Well Plan consists of five online workshops which will provide you with helpful information about mental health and wellbeing, include activities that will help you deal with difficult situations, and assist you in developing your own plan to improve your wellbeing and resilience.

If you wish to earn Horizon Award points for this program, please be sure to self-enrol in the
Horizon Award FLO topic.

Register now to book your place in this program
We will send all registered participants an email with further information about how to access the online workshops.
