Ping! is one way Flinders is improving communication to students.
Students have told us they receive too many emails from the University, making it difficult for them to know what is relevant and what is not.
The purpose of Ping! is to help streamline communication from the University. Ping! provides a regular channel for important (yet non-time critical) information to be distributed by the University. Its structure means information can be seen at a glance, with links to more detail, if required.
Information in Ping! is tailored to specific student groups.
Ping! is tailored to different student groups. This helps ensure information students receive, is relevant to them.
Firstly, it’s tailored by College, meaning students only see information relating to the College(s) in which they are admitted. For example: information about a College of Business, Government and Law movie night will only display in the version of Ping! sent to students studying a course within the College of Business, Government and Law.
Secondly, Ping! is tailored by international or domestic student status. This means the ‘international news’ section will only display in the version of Ping! sent to international students.
Ping! provides a channel for students to distribute information to other students.
Until now there have been limited ways in which students can communicate with other students about events or initiatives important to them. Ping! provides a channel for students to share relevant information with the wider student community.
