The approach to clinical learning in the Masters of Nurse Practitioner degree is a founded on a work Integrated learning (WIL) model. Therefore, you will learn while you work in your area of specialisation, using your nominated Supervisors to support and guide your practice.
All students must complete a Placement Confirmation Form to verify that there are no changes to the original SIPP form submitted during the admission process and to show evidence that their employer/host venue will support their placement.
Master of nurse practitioner (NP) students are required to complete a 150 hours per placement topic. NURS9027 Integrated professional practice 1 and NURS9029 Integrated professional practice 2.
NURS9027 Integrated Professional Practice 1
- Placement requirements: 10 patient case studies, completed under supervision, with a specific focus on diagnostic reasoning.
NURS9029 Integrated Professional Practice 2
- Placement requirements: Clinical viva exam (case presentation), 10 patient case studies, completed under supervision, with specific focus on prescribing and continuity of care.
Compliance requirements for NURS9027 Supernumerary Integrated Professional Practice (SIPP)
Before enrolling in a placement topic, NURS9027 and NURS9029, students must:
1. Upload a completed, signed Placement Confirmation Form to InPlace no later than four (4) weeks before the topic start date.
2. Complete all other placement compliance requirements listed in InPlace no later than four (4) weeks before the topic start date.
No changes to placement venue or supervisors are permitted once a placement topic commences (Applies to both topics NURS9027 & NURS9029).
Any changes to venue or supervision after the placement topics start will result in withdrawal from the topic due to non-compliance with placement requirements.
Requesting changes to placement venue or supervisor(s)
If you need to change your placement venue or supervisor(s), you must:
a) notify CNHS Placements via email cnhs.placements@flinders.edu.au
b) and supply CNHS Placements with an updated SIPP form at least six (6) weeks before the placement topic start date
c) complete requirements 1 and 2 four (4) weeks before the start of NURS9027.
Failure to meet these deadlines means the Placement Team will not have sufficient time to establish the required placement agreements. As a result, you will be required to withdraw from the placement topic.
