WASAA Summer School, New Trends in Information Technologies

Program Dates: Monday 15 January to Friday 2nd February 2024
Places Available: up to 8 places
Open to: Undergraduate students entering their final year of study from the College of Science & Engineering. GPA requirements apply (see Eligibility below).
Please note the program is targeting upper level Engineering students 3-4th year onwards.
Application Deadline: Monday, 18 September 2023
Credit: Students will be eligible to receive 4.5 units of credit towards their academic program provided they meet the eligibility criteria.
The Embassy of France, in partnership with Flinders University, is offering a unique opportunity for up to 8 students to experience French culture, cutting-edge educational experiences, and industry visits. The Western Alliance for Scientific Actions with Australia (WASAA) is a 3-week program (taught in English) which includes:

There are no guarantees that nominated students will receive an offer of admission from WASAA. There are no guarantees that each of the streams will proceed as this is subject to participant numbers and interest.
The application process is comprised of two stages.
Step 1
1. Interested students should submit an AskFlinders request to seek approval to enrol into an elective topic/Table A topic.
Qu. Do I have room in my study program to enrol into an option topic (ENGR7720) so that I can be approved to undertake the WASAA Summer School program in Brest, France?
2. Once you have received a response from your College, complete and submit to lwb@flinders.edu.au a completed Expression of Interest (EOI) form in response to the following questions.
Include your name, student number, GPA and email with your EOI and send to lwb@flinders.edu.au by 18 September 2023.
3. Expressions of Interest will undergo a selection process by the student’s College and Flinders International.
4. Selected students will be advised and will be nominated to WASAA after they have received approval for credit recognition.
5. Once you have received confirmation of eligibility (college) and you have been nominated by Flinders University > proceed to Stage 2.

Students will travel independently to Brest, France. This is a regarded as a short-term study abroad tour, rather than a study tour led by Flinders University staff.
A compulsory pre-departure session is facilitated by the Global Experience team at Flinders International.
The €1750 program fee will be waived for Flinders University students.
Students will need to cover airfares, accommodation, and general living expenses. Students are also advised not to book flights until they have received College approval and your admission into the WASAA Summer School has been confirmed by our French partners.
