Want the experience of studying overseas but can't commit to a full semester? Short term programs are a great way to travel overseas and earn academic credit toward your degree!
There are many short term overseas study options to choose from. Don't worry about funding, support is available for approved credit bearing programs in the form of an RA Simpson overseas scholarship and the federal governments generous OS Help loan scheme. Choose from our externally provided and college-led short-term programs below to start your journey.
Expand your outlook and develop an international perspective, it's possible to study and see the world at the same time.
Short-term intensive academic programs are available to Flinders students through our partnerships with host universities and other program providers. Flinders offers a range of options for students from different academic fields. Programs are usually 2- 6 weeks in duration and are a great way to add an international study experience to your degree.
Programs are usually scheduled during semester breaks, either through June-July or November-February.

Many faculty Led programs are partly funded by the Australian Government’s New Colombo Mobility program. Scholarships are typically valued at $3000 for short-term programs and $10,000 for semester long study experiences.
Students that seek credit pre-approval from their college for their short-term international study program can also apply to receive a $500 RA Simpson scholarship.

Once the college office has approved your request and provided you with a credit letter, you can submit an online application for financial assistance through the Student System.

A generous endowment of $500 from the family of the late Mr Robert Allen Simpson, a founding member of the Flinders University Council and honorary degree recipient. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students to undertake part of their course of study overseas to enhance their Flinders University studies by providing an international perspective.
OS-HELP is a generous Australian Government funding initiative and is one of the most progressive funding opportunities in the world for university students! Eligible students can borrow funds to assist them with paying for some - or all - of their approved overseas program costs:
OS-HELP is administered by your Australian university. If you are interested in taking advantage of this funding opportunity you will need to apply for an OS-HELP loan directly to your university. You can find more information and how to apply here.

The Horizon Award is a free program for all Flinders students who want to add professional development skills to their university experience to enhance their employability.
