Applying for an exchange semester is a 2 part process.
The first step is to apply online to the Flinders exchange program. If your application is successful you will be invited to submit an application to one of your nominated host institutions.
Semester one:

The following programs may have specific requirements that determine when you are eligible to undertake an exchange:
Creative Arts - Dual Award and VET entry
Exchange may be possible in the second semester of the second year or the first semester of 3rd year. Carefully read the eligibility criteria for the OS Help Loan - must be a Commonwealth supported student and completed 36 units of study undertaken in Australia towards the course of study, as a Commonwealth supported student.
Education - Undergraduate degrees
Students may be eligible to undertake an exchange in Semester 2 of Year 2, Semester 1 of Year 3, or Semester 2 of Year 4. These periods often offer greater flexibility within the study plan, particularly where option topic spaces are available. Topics completed while on exchange should be selected from approved major or option topics and must align with the overall requirements of the degree.
Languages
Second semester of second year, or third year. French Language students are encouraged to apply for an overseas short term program, prior to applying for a semester exchange program with French partners.
Law
Law core topics are not eligible to take overseas. Third year onwards.
Nutrition
Second semester of second year (strict study plan).
Medical Science
Exchange may be possible in the third year when option topics are available.
Psychology and Behavioural Science
Second year or first semester of third year.
The following programs have course structures that do not permit an exchange:
Higher Education Diploma
Exchange is not possible within this Diploma. If continuing into Bachelor program, exchange maybe possible.
Health Sciences (Vision Science)/Master of Optometry, Letters, Social Work and Speech Pathology
Exchange is not possible in this degree. Please contact your College for advice and for details of overseas clinical placement options.
Nursing/Midwifery
No semester exchange available. Please contact Donelle Arthur, Course Coordinator, Bachelor of Nursing for advice and for details of overseas clinical placement options.
Master of Teaching (all streams)
The exchange is not possible due to accreditation and teachers registration requirements.

Step-by-step Application Guide
Attend to one of our Information Sessions to learn more about the overseas study options and general tips on how to start your search in where to go for your exchange. We also recommend to check your study plan for flexibility (electives make it easier!).
Through the exchange workflow, you will check your eligibility, prepare your credit approval, and apply to the Global Experience team to complete a semester or full academic year overseas.
If your Flinders exchange application is successful, we will nominate you as an exchange student to one of your preferred host universities. You will then be contacted by the overseas institution to apply to your exchange application to your host.
Once your are accepted by your Host University, all exchange students will attend a mandatory Pre-Departure session and complete training via Career Hub. Once you complete all predeparture requirements you can apply for financial assistance and student travel insurance.
