Program title: Frontier Science, Science Policy, Technology and Innovation in Malaysia
Program location: University of Malaya (UM), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Program overview: An intensive 3 week program devised by the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, UM. Projects related to your academic background, as well as master classes in Bahasa Malaysian and visits to sites of cultural significance will be offered. Science Policy, through the Malaysian Academy of Science in Malaysia will also be examined as well as Innovation in Malaysia. Plenty of time has also been set aside for you to explore on your own.
Program dates: January/February 2019 (the exact departure date is yet to be fixed).
Places available: Up to 4.
Open to: All currently enrolled undergraduate students in the College of Science and Engineering who meet the below eligibility. Note that B. Med. Sci. students are ineligible to apply.
Application deadline: A 1/2 page expression of interest should be sent to the CSE Work Integrated Learning Coordinator (larissa.pearce@flinders.edu.au) by 5pm on Friday, 5 October.
Eligibility: Hold Australian Citizenship, have completed a minimum of 36 units at the time of the trip, and have a GPA ≥ 5. Students must enroll in an approved Flinders topic prior to leaving for the program. Note that B. Med. Sci. students are ineligible to apply.
Credit: Acknowledgment of the New Colombo Plan (NCP) award on your Academic Transcript. Credit towards your degree program. We will advise at a later date the course code to enroll into for credit for this program.
Costs: A $3,000 mobility grant from DFAT is available to assist with program costs. Students may also be eligible to apply for an OS Help Loan. Flinders University will provide students with complimentary travel insurance.
