Discovering and Preserving Mongolian Cultural Heritage: A Multi-disciplinary Field School Opportunity in Northern Mongolia

Participants of this program will get a unique opportunity to learn both traditional and cutting edge archaeological methods in a beautiful, mountainous and remote region of northern Mongolia. Adventurers up to the challenge will be immersed in the local nomadic culture, uncover evidence of Mongolia’s ancient past, and will come away with the skills necessary to jumpstart a career in archaeology.
Students from disciplines other than archaeology may be able to participate in, and will learn the basics of archaeological excavation techniques, while completing assessment activities specific to their discipline.

15 places funded by the New Colombo Plan Mobility Grant to eligible Flinders students and students from consortium member universities (JCU, Wollongong, Southern Cross University and Macquarie University. A limited number of self-funded places may be considered case by case.
Students must have a space in their study plan to enrol in a 4.5 unit topic in NS 2 2020.

On successful completion of the program and required assessment if any, students may be eligible to receive 4.5 units of credit towards their Flinders program. Successful applicants will be advised about credit arrangements.

Other costs such as return airfares from Australia, passport, visa/student visa, vaccination, camping gear (sleeping bag, tent, etc.) and personal expenses are not included in the cost above.
A total of 15 x $3,000 New Colombo Plan Mobility grants are available to support eligible participants; in addition, students may also be eligible to apply for an OS Help Loan.
Students are eligible to register with Flinders travel insurance.
