Participation in a European Hospital Elective Placement is subject to approval through the College of Medicine and Public Health (CMPH) and the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) team at Flinders University.
European Hospital Placements offered by CIS Australia are designed as structured international clinical experiences that include observational hospital-based learning and clinical shadowing opportunities.
These placements may be suitable for Flinders Medicine students seeking to undertake an approved international elective experience. Academic approval and recognition of the placement are determined solely by Flinders University and are subject to College and WIL requirements.
Students should discuss their plans with the CMPH and WIL team before submitting an application.
Only placement opportunities that fall within approved MD term dates will be considered by the College of Medicine and Public Health.
Based on the current MD timetable, students interested in a European Hospital Placement should focus on opportunities that align with Term 4 (21 June to 30 July 2027). Placement opportunities that occur outside approved MD teaching periods, including January placement options, will not be considered at this stage.
Students should review the MD teaching calendar carefully before applying and ensure their proposed placement dates align with the approved teaching periods.
