Governance and Diplomacy: Vietnam study tour in collaboration with the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV)

Embark on a transformative journey through Vietnam with our Governance and Diplomacy study tour, in collaboration with the prestigious Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV).

Delve into the rich political and cultural history of Hanoi, followed by an immersive educational experience in governance, foreign policy, and diplomacy in Hanoi. Engage with expert speakers, explore national and local political and diplomatic sites, and interact with DAV students through workshops and discussions. This two-week program offers a unique opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of Vietnam's governance and diplomacy while experiencing its vibrant culture firsthand.

Week 2: Educational Program in Governance, Foreign Policy, and Diplomacy in Hanoi, Organised by DAV.

Travel Scholarships Available

The program is supported by the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan (NCP). For eligible students, the cost of this program can offset by:

• AUD $3,980 Australian Government New Colombo Plan Grant
• RA Simpson International Scholarship AUD $500 (subject to meeting eligibility requirements)
• OS-HELP up to AUD $9,504 (conditions apply)

If you are an international student, permanent resident or do not meet the eligibility for an NCP Grant, you may still participate and be offered an RA Simpson Scholarship AUD $500 (conditions apply). If you are a Post-Graduate, commonwealth-supported student, you are eligible to apply for OS-HELP up to AUD $9,504 (conditions apply).

Program Costs (Indicative)

The cost of this program is approximately AUD $2,320 which includes a non-refundable deposit of AUD $200 after committing to the program. 

The cost will cover:

• Academic support and mentorship for the 2-week program with Dr Dilnoza Ubaydullaeva
• Domestic transport to and from airport
• Welcome pack & detailed orientation
• 12 nights’ accommodation in Hanoi, inclusive of all bills and Wi-Fi (where available)
• Breakfast at the hotel
• Regular organised events, trips & activities throughout the program
• Educational program delivered by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) 

The cost will not include:

• a)    Return flight to Vietnam
• b)    Single-entry visa to Vietnam
• c)    Vaccinations/medical arrangements (please consult your medical professional prior to departure for vaccination advice)
• d)    Meals during the stay in Vietnam
• e)    Independent trips, shopping, and other meals                

 Estimated costs for items (a – e) $1,660

*Note that these costs can be offset with a New Colombo Plan grant – as detailed below – if an applicant is successful in securing a grant.

Study Plan Query

Submit an Ask Flinders query to confirm whether you have room in your study plan to take topic GOVT3005 International Relations and Political Science Practicum in S2, 2025.

Please note that the selection process for the NCP-funded places will be based on a written application, an unofficial student transcript, as well as an interview with candidates that will take place once applications have closed.
