Program Dates: 23 June to 6 July 2025
Deposit Payment Deadline: Thursday, 20 February 2025

Explore the fascinating world of fashion, costume, and textiles in China and Hong Kong. This exciting study tour, delivered in partnership with CIS Australia, offers you the chance to immerse yourself in global fashion and textile industries while experiencing vibrant cultures and cutting-edge design practices. As an externally provided short-term program at Flinders, it’s the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic international setting.
Throughout the program, you’ll gain valuable insights into offshore and fabric sourcing for specific markets, including final fashion collections. You’ll visit textile factories, such as knitters, weavers, and printmakers, to see firsthand how fabrics are created for international markets.
You’ll also explore the rich heritage of traditional Chinese textiles and crafts, engaging with cultural practices that have shaped the industry for generations. In addition, you’ll learn about China’s growing role in sustainable fashion and how it’s influencing global design trends.
The program is a fantastic chance for collaboration and cultural exchange. You’ll connect with peers from other countries, exchange ideas, and discover how fashion collections are developed in diverse contexts. This experience will expand your creativity and provide a fresh perspective on the global fashion landscape.
A visit to the Australian Wool Innovation offices will give you an insight into Australia’s contributions to the fashion industry, including the latest innovations in wool. This is a unique opportunity for Flinders students to broaden your knowledge, develop industry connections, and gain a global perspective. If you’re passionate about fashion and want to take your skills to an international level, this program is for you.
