If you would like a call from one of our friendly team, please complete this brief Flinders Support Network questionnaire (only takes a minute). Someone from the Student Experience team will be in contact within a few days.

Looking after your physical wellbeing... like a boss!

Welcome to the seventh blog in our video series "... like a Boss".  Join Dr Lauren Butterworth as she helps you look after your physical wellbeing... Like a Boss.

This week Lauren has recruited a few experts to help us look after our physical health, which also helps our mental health.

Watch Lauren and her experts explain how you can reliably maintain your physical health by clicking the image or
visit our student blog.

Reminder: Changed examination arrangements for Semester 1, 2020

Important: All Semester 1, 2020 examinations will be moved online or changed to another form of assessment. You are advised to check assessment changes via your FLO topic pages.

NESB (Non-English speaking background) Cards

As end of semester examinations approach, it is important that eligible NESB students have a valid card in order to receive variations to standard examination conditions.

Electronic NESB cards for 2020 were issued to
eligible students in early April. If you believe you are eligible for a NESB card and have not yet received one, please check that you have entered the following details on the Student System, via the “My Details” tab;
  1. The year you first entered Australia
  2. The language you speak at home
  3. The country you were born in is not Australia.
Once you have entered your details, please submit an AskFlinders request by 26 May to ensure you receive your electronic card before end of semester examinations begin.

Your new Student Portal launching in 2020

We are now in the final stages of the Compass Program. The Compass team is working on developing a new student portal to be released in phases throughout 2020. The student portal has been designed with students for students. It aims to simplify and improve how you access and engage with support and services at Flinders, to improve student experience and success.

The first phase is being released in mid-year -

Congratulations, you have found the winning article!

New library chat service

Need a quick response to a Library question? The library is up for the challenge. They are piloting a brand new chat service: Mon-Fri, 9am to 5pm.

Look for the chat icon on the bottom right of the Library’s homepage.

Top tip: Library Chat works best using Google Chrome; it doesn’t like Internet Explorer.

What is the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything?

To try to keep their club community engaged and connected, Thinking CaPS has premiered a video series titled "42 Questions" which allows everyone to get to know the staff and students that you might see around campus, specifically down at the Chemical and Physical Sciences Building. Their first video premiering last week featured none other than the iconic Dr Ingo Koeper. Follow their Facebook page to keep up with their juicy content and future videos.

Watch the video here.

Flinders would like to hear from you

Last Friday you were sent an email from Professor Clare Pollock, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students). This email had the subject "Student Feedback on the Transition to Online Learning". If you have not done so all ready, please take a moment to complete the survey contained in this email.

We want to learn about your experience studying online - this way, we can continue to improve your experience into the future.

Share a positive online study experience with your fellow students

We know how tough the past few months have been, but we'd like to take a look at the positives. We’re creating a video featuring a compilation of testimonials talking about any positive experience you may have had whilst studying with Flinders online.

Please indicate your interest in participating by emailing
student.experience@flinders.edu.au by no later than Friday, 15 May and we will get in touch with tips on how to submit your video.

To thank you for participating, we’re giving the first 10 submissions a pair of duck socks!

‘Take a Break’ with Oasis - Student Wellbeing Centre

‘Take a Break’ is a fun and informal conversation session led by an Oasis Chaplain every Tuesday afternoon 2pm-3pm. The focus is getting students together for a chat and to check in and talk about which ever topic comes up.

The group is for all students. Feel free to come and go during the hour. All you need to do is enrol on the Oasis_Online
FLO page and head to the ‘Take A Break’ module and join.

They look forward to seeing you!
