Attention first year health professional students: what do you know and think about keeping people active moving when in hospital? If you are studying in your first year of nursing, medicine, the master of physiotherapy or master of occupational therapy here at Flinders University, you are invited participate in a once-off online survey that is anticipated to take up to 10 minutes to complete. The study is investigating what you think the role of your own future profession is (and others), when it comes to helping older adults in hospital stay active. Access the survey and the full study information sheet. Thank you for your consideration, survey closes in June. |

Cultural Celebration - Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr Our International Muslim students have been celebrating Ramadan, the fasting month where they will neither eat nor drink between dawn and sunset. They have a meal just before dawn and another meal just after sunset. They usually share their breaking fast meal with families and friends. Our International student Muslim community celebrate Eid al Fitr which means the “feast of breaking the fast” this weekend. It begins with the first sign of the new moon. The new moon may be sighted earlier or later in specific locations. Hence, Muslims in different parts of the world may begin the Eid-al-Fitr celebrations on different dates. In Australia Eid al Fitr will most likely be celebrated on Sunday, 24 May 2020. Worshippers flock to the mosques for morning prayers. People greet each other with “Eid Mubarak” meaning “Blessed Eid”. Special traditional dishes are shared with families and friends at home. Gifts are given to children and those in need. Click ISS FLO on Celebrate with ISS for some photographs and video recordings of how our International Students from different Muslim communities celebrate Ramadan and EiD. |
