That’s why we provide a wide range of free academic, wellbeing, financial and career-related support services to help you. To learn more, come to the Drop In Support Lounge tomorrow Thursday 22 August from 10.30am to 1pm in the Bedford Park Hub. Stop by, grab a free snack from our doughnut wall and chat with staff about how the support can help you. Indigenous Employment Program – hospitality Want to earn extra cash while you study by working in the hospitality industry? Accor Hotels is offering an excellent opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students interested in hospitality work. Eligible students are invited to submit their interest in completing a training and work experience program hosted by the Indigenous Programs Team from 16 to 20 September. In the Frame - International student stories of empowerment In the Frame brings together colourful stories of empowerment from international students at Flinders University, who have shared their personal experiences living in Australia. Through the universal language of photography, South Australian artist Alex Frayne capture the hopes, dreams, struggles and successes of international students. Study support available 24/7 through StudiosityUndergraduate and postgraduate students get free access to Studiosity, which provides online study and writing skills support 24/7. Through Studiosity you can get feedback on your draft assignments and the live chat function offers study help with subject experts in real-time. You can access Studiosity via Okta or through the Studiosity topic in Flinders Learning Online (FLO).

EPSW student wellbeing initiative with SAHMRI
The College of EPSW and South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute’s (SAHMRI) Wellbeing and Resilience Centre are providing students with access to an interactive wellbeing and resilience platform. You will receive a link in your Flinders email to access ‘Complete Mental Health’, a free online program that provides personalised tips and techniques to build and improve mental health and wellbeing. If this is the second time you have participated, the platform will provide you with information about your change in mental health status over time. All collected personal information and survey responses will be de-identified and is confidential. |

All students are welcome to attend, although the event will be particularly relevant if you’re a new student/returning to study after a long break, if you’re an international student who would like help settling into study at Flinders, or if you’re just feeling a little lost and need to get back on track. The Playford Trust are offering the three scholarships listed below to give eligible students financial support, along with hands on industry experience. Hurry, applications close mid-September. |

4 x $10,000 scholarships: chemical, mechanical & electrical engineering
With the generous support of Nyrstar, the Playford Trust is offering up to four scholarships in 2020 to students entering their third-year of chemical, mechanical or electrical engineering. Valued at $10,000 per year for two years, the scholarships involve paid eight week work placements at Nyrstar’s Port Pirie Smelter over the summer holidays. Recipients will also get the opportunity to work on technical projects to solve real problems and apply university knowledge in an industrial setting. $7,000 scholarship available - final year electrical engineering students
The Playford Trust in partnership with SA Power Networks is offering a $7,000 scholarship for an undergraduate student in their final year of an electrical engineering degree studying in the field of power engineering or asset management. Get to know your College All undergraduate, postgraduate and Higher Degree by Research students in the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) are invited to lunch in the HASS College Front (map ref H8). Join other students in your course to meet the College Vice-President and Dean of Education and to share your ideas and feedback. Tea and coffee and a light lunch is provided. Sturt Open Night - 28 August
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences will open its doors to school students, teachers, parents and future students next Wednesday 28 August from 4pm to 6pm, for an energised display of everything that is life and learning at Flinders. There will be interactive demonstrations amid tours of the campus, and nursing and midwifery and exercise science labs. Students are encouraged to spread the news and support the event, by joining in and bringing friends and family. If you know anyone who may be interested in studying at university then this is the perfect opportunity to introduce them to Flinders! Read more about the event. |

Student Learning CentreThe Student Learning Centre (SLC) provides a ‘drop-in’ Learning Lounge on campus at both Sturt and Bedford Park. Visit the Learning Lounge for help with academic writing, maths, statistics, referencing and English language.

There are study guides on: academic writing, referencing, editing and proofreading, English language and general study skills, as well as mathematics including statistics, arithmetic and equations. Writing Academic Assignments workshopWould you like help writing your assignments? Come along to the Writing Academic Assignments workshop to learn more about assignment planning, structuring, drafting, writing, editing and more. All participants will receive a pen, highlighter or diary.
