"I came to Adelaide with my family. Using the transport system and socialising was difficult at first. The education system was totally new for me and I've struggled with academic writing.
I passed all my assignments in the first semester, but my grades were not up to my expectations. I paid some extra attention to my academic writing and gradually I improved my grades. English is not my first language and I could not communicate effectively with my teachers and mates. Fortunately, my teachers were very helpful. Now I am confident.
I struggled having my family in Australia. My two daughters enrolled in an Islamic school just after we arrived in Adelaide. They had to go through a bit of trouble regarding studies, and finding new friendships. The little one was more attached to me. So, she suffered from separation anxiety for couple of months. Now they are well adjusted with their studies and the new school environment. My husband had to work hard to earn money for the family.
It was difficult to be apart from my mother, my sisters, my brother and in-laws. I was anxious about my mother’s health. It was my loving siblings who gave me the courage to remain calm and focussed.
The Almighty has blessed me with such a nice family. I would like to stay positive at any given situation in the future. I would like to be involved in work that is dedicated to humanity. I would like to explore all the opportunities that will help my community to live a healthy and happy life and free from all the hardships of the society. At the same time, I hope my family members enjoy a happy healthy life especially my mother, who is unwell. It’s never late for a new beginning. Nothing is impossible in life. There are always people who can help. We need to ask for help. Work hard and stay focused on your dream.
