NURS8829 Paediatric Nursing

The information on this page is to be read in addition to the placement information for all postgraduate nursing students.

It is recommended that students explore their placement options and requirements prior to enrolment.

The required placement experiences may not be available in your local area and some travel may be necessary to address all the placement requirements.

Students are required to undertake 225 hours (30 days) clinical placement over the semester. The placement must include:

21 days in acute paediatric environment
6 days in a highly specialised paediatric environment (ie paediatrics emergency department or paediatrics ICU)
3 days with a CPC or nurse practitioner.

Students must be employed in the clinical specialist setting to complete the placement topic.

Students must have their manager complete the placement form to demonstrate they will be supported at their workplace for the placement duration.

Facilitation

Students will be allocated a clinical educator/facilitator for the placement. Facilitator details will be available from InPlace at the beginning of the semester after your placement form has been received.
