High standard of personal literacy and basic computer literacy.

The concepts of Creativity and Visual Thinking will be explored through the existing literature and current research. Visual universals and the grammar of visual thinking will be explored. The links between creativity and visual thinking will be examined. Practical programs, which aim to enhance creativity and visual thinking will be presented.

For students to:

• develop an appreciation of the concept of creativity

• develop an appreciation of the concept of visual thinking

• understand the significance of creativity and visual thinking to student learning

• appreciate the implications of creativity and visual thinking for teaching

On completion of this topic students will be able to:

• define the concepts of creativity and visual thinking

• evaluate and identify creative and visual thinking ability

• apply visual universals and the grammar of visual thinking to an analysis of visual art

• identify ways in which creativity can be developed in the classroom
