The University has a network of trained Equal Opportunity (EO) Contact Officers located across campuses and areas of work. EO Contact Officers are available to provide confidential information and support staff and students who may have experienced, witnessed, or become aware of behaviour related to discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, Gender-based Violence or bullying.
EO Contact Officers offer a supportive and respectful space where individuals can speak openly, at their own pace. Engagement with an EO Contact Officer is always optional, and people are supported to make informed decisions about what feels right for them.
EO Contact Officers:
- act as an optional first point of contact for employees and students
- listen in a non-judgemental and trauma-informed way
- provide a confidential and supportive space to discuss concerns or experiences.
- are able to share up-to-date information about the University's Equal Opportunity policies , procedures and available support and reporting pathways.
- help individuals understand their options, without pressure to take any particular action.
- Promote respectful and inclusive behaviours by modelling these values in their work and interactions.
EO Contact Officers do not investigate complaints, participate in formal processes, or advocate on behalf of individuals. Their role is to support wellbeing by providing clear information about available University policies and procedures, and support people to understand and explore available options for further support or reporting, at their own pace and if they choose to do so.
Students experiencing discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, or bullying can also contact the Student EO Advisor for confidential support and information.
