Become a Student Ambassador
A fun and rewarding experience
Casual professional roles are now available for dynamic, supportive, and passionate students eager to engage the next generation in higher education.
The Student Ambassador role is flexible, fits perfectly around your studies and can help you in developing the enterprise skills required alongside your degree, to be competitive when you graduate.
The Office of Student Recruitment works closely with schools and communities to raise aspirations, demystify higher education, and promote pathways to university study. We offer a range of on and off site initiatives aimed to encourage a positive connection with Flinders University, our campus and our community, whilst building capacities for lifelong learning.
Our programs rely heavily on our Student Ambassadors, who come from a variety of courses, entry pathways and backgrounds. Current Flinders students have a strong influence on who we work with, as they can connect with school students, share their experiences and encourage them to pursue university study.
The role requires you to engage with school students, answer questions and talk about your own journey through university. You will be responsible for connecting with prospective students and ensuring they are supported through our programs. This may include guiding groups on campus, assisting with a variety of events, delivering presentations, and running hands-on study area workshops.
Work is offered on a casual, ad hoc basis and varies throughout the year. Student Ambassadors are contracted as casual professional staff and are reimbursed at an hourly rate on a HE03 level.
The Education Pathways Team work with low socioeconomic and disadvantaged schools in metropolitan and regional areas of South Australia. EPT deliver programs to students in Years 7 – 12 to raise aspirations, demystify higher education and promote pathways to university study. Core programs include our River Journey presentation series, Campus Experiences (schools students visiting campus), and our Flash Mentoring initiative. We also manage a volunteer mentor program, Inspire.
The Prospective Students Team work with Year 10-12 students across South Australia and the Northern Territory, advising of and supporting their engagement with higher education. Core programs include Courses and Pathways presentations, 1:1 Advice Sessions, Campus Experiences, Expos and other recruitment Events.
You may also be invited to work with our Admissions Team, completing administrative tasks and supporting prospective students with individualised advice.
We are looking to hold the next intake of ambassadors in 2023. Please keep an eye out on this page for further details.
