A Message from Professor Clare Pollock Semester two is now underway and I would like to extend a warm welcome to you all. Whether this is your first time at Flinders, or you are continuing study after a rather extraordinary first semester, I wish you all the best for a successful second half of the year. You may have seen information about Flinders’ unique mid-year orientation program which runs until the end of week three. While events in O’Week were targeted to new students, all students are welcome to attend events in weeks one to three. Doing so can be a great way to re-familiarise yourself with Flinders, brush up on academic skills, look after your wellbeing, and set yourself up for career success. It can also be a chance to meet other students. You can read more by visiting the orientation pages of our newly re-vamped student website. Lastly, the first half of this year has brought significant challenges for many, and I would like to remind you that Flinders offers a wide range of free support services to help you. This includes confidential health, counselling and disability services, wellbeing, financial, and academic support. Visit the Support and Services Directory to learn more about what’s on offer. I hope you all enjoy this Semester. Look after yourselves and others, and remember that our staff are always here to support you. Please reach out, should you need to. Best regards, Professor Clare Pollock Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor | Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) |

Welcome to International Students in Semester 2 2020 To all new international students joining us this semester, a very warm welcome to Flinders University. And to all our current international students, welcome back after a unique semester, and hopefully a restful break. This intake will see some of you joining us here on our beautiful campus for largely face-to-face teaching (seminars, tutorials, practical and laboratory work) in a COVID-19 safe environment with larger lectures to be delivered online. However, many of you are unable to join us due to the ongoing Australian border closure, and special arrangements are in place for you. All of us here at Flinders hope to be able to also welcome you to Campus as soon as the border restrictions are eased. Whilst we find ourselves in extraordinary times, I am very proud of how we as a University and a community have responded to the challenges. So please rest assured you have joined a safe and caring community as your home away from home. Flinders is committed to supporting your success and realising your ambitions. That’s why we have a range of student services across the University, designed to help you through every step of your student life, and to prepare you well for your future career. And these services are of course available regardless of whether you are attending campus or are studying online from your country. A good starting point in understanding all the University services available to you is the International Student Services (ISS) team. ISS can assist you with settling in and navigating student life and offers a range of programs and referral services to support your academic and social life on campus and within the local community. They also provide information on visa issues, work rights, advice on University procedures and can provide you with support on general issues. Our experienced Client Services Officers Klaus, Cassie, Nina and Alice will assist you with your general enquiries. For more complex questions our International Student Advisors Anthony, Mahin, Shervin and Jose are always available by appointment to assist you with anything you may need. Where is ISS and how do I contact ISS?
