Enhance your CV and help new students You will remember what it was like to be a new student starting out at university. Wouldn't it have been great to have a more experienced student to support you in those first weeks? Now is your chance to be that experienced student. O’Guides are current students who will act as a contact point for new students throughout the first few weeks of Semester 2, 2020. O’Guides are there to answer questions (or point students in the right direction) and generally help them feel to comfortable in uni life. You also get Horizon points and duck socks for your time. Non-Graded Pass Conversion for First Half 2020 As communicated in the DVC (S) COVID-19 student email update on the 7 May, if you wish to convert a passing grade for a topic in the first half of 2020 to a Non-Graded Pass once your topic results have been released you can request the conversion online. You will have two weeks to submit your request following the release of your results. To help you decide how this may impact your GPA you can use the GPA calculator. AASW Lunchbox Series for Social Work Students The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) WA Branch (supported by the SA Branch) is hosting a series of webinar sessions. These are designed to help social work students gain additional knowledge to top up areas that they may feel they have missed as a result of COVID-19 restrictions to field placements. The series runs from August to October 2020. Sessions are $5 each for Student members and $15 each for non-member Students. Or they can gain discounts by purchasing all of the sessions at once. Nursing Careers Week - Reminder There are fantastic opportunities to connect with Careers and with Employers in the Nursing Careers Week - with daily sessions 9/6/20-12/6/20. Most sessions will be recorded. Our career workshops will provide a great opportunity to ask any questions. Check out the program and make a booking here. Our Career Resources and Links page for Nursing Careers is available here. You will also find our brand new 'Nursing Career Management Modules - Videos'. The topis cover career management skills for Nursing and includes a session on resumes. From this page you can navigate to specialised Nursing resources including for career packs with sample resumes, resume template, cover letters and interviews for your year level. Each pack also has a resume checklist to help you in developing your resume. Plus, there is also a web session tomorrow at 11am, with special guest Flinders alumna and Nurse Manager for GenWise, Renee Rowe. |
