National Reconciliation Week event - free movie and snack at OasisHead to Oasis on Tuesday to share a snack and watch the movie Rabbit Proof Fence. It's a bold and timely film about the stolen generations. Set in 1931, three Aboriginal girls are taken from their mothers and transported to a distant training school, where they are prepared for assimilation into white society by a racist government policy. It follows their true story as they escape and make a tenacious journey homewards. The movie illuminates a shameful chapter of Australian history while conveying our universal need for a true and proper home.Date: Tuesday 28 May | Time: 2pm | Oasis Wellbeing & Community Centre (map ref J7) |
