Resubmission

The Assessment Variation Procedures outline circumstances when assessment tasks may be adjusted, varied or modified for individual students, including resubmission.

This webpage provides the process to be followed when notifying your topic coordinator of your intention to resubmit a failed assessment.

Resubmission eligibility

You can nominate for a single opportunity to resubmit a failed assessment worth 20% or greater. You are eligible to resubmit a failed assessment if you have:

meaningfully attempted the assessment activity (i.e. have made a tangible attempt to address the requirements of the assessment activity), and
submitted the assessment activity by the due date (either the original due date or an extended/deferred due date granted in accordance with Procedure 4.2 or 4.3), and
not already received an opportunity for formal feedback on a draft of the assessment activity or completed a similar assessment set as a scaffolded activity to the final assessment, or
not received answer guides as part of the feedback.

Resubmission process

To resubmit an assessment:

You must confirm that your assessment meets the criteria detailed above.
You must notify the topic coordinator that you will resubmit the assessment within 48 hours of receiving the marked original submission. You do this by completing the notification of intention to resubmit an assessment form and emailing it to the topic coordinator.
You must complete the resubmission proforma and submit it, along with your revised assessment, within one week after the return of the original submission.

Notes:

The maximum grade obtainable for a resubmitted assessment is a pass.
Failure to take up the opportunity to resubmit a failed assessment that meets the criteria may impact eligibility for supplementary assessment.

If a notification of intention to resubmit an assessment form is received and the assessment has been facilitated by the FLO assignment tool, please follow these steps (refer to the FLO staff support pages for instructions):

Allow another attempt for this student
Set a new due date for one week after the return of the original submission
Check the maximum number of uploaded files setting allows for the inclusion of the Resubmission proforma.

If a notification of intention to resubmit an assessment form is received and the assessment is NOT facilitated by the FLO assignment tool, either:

Make appropriate arrangements with the student (eg. verbal presentation, performance, etc.)
or
Contact your Learning Designer for advice on facilitating resubmission in other FLO tools (eg. quiz)
