This topic gives students the opportunity to explore a professional workplace of their choice within the tourism and events industry. Students apply their academic skills and knowledge to a real-world workplace and gain a clearer insight into the day-to-day functioning of a tourism/events business. This learning experience allows students to reflect upon their skills and capabilities and evaluate if these skills and capabilities are corresponding to the needs of the industry.
This topic aims to:
Allow the students to apply a practical understanding of the knowledge, skills and capabilities required for a tourism and/or events business
Extend students’ knowledge and skills throughout the placement
Foster an appropriate work ethic throughout and beyond the placement.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be expected to be able to:
Apply their academic knowledge and skills to a complex work environment within their chosen industry sector
Critically articulate their skills and capabilities and how these intersect effectively with the needs of industry
Effectively, professionally and ethically communicate with others in a range of ways in a diverse workplace setting
Reflect and evaluate the experiences that will lead to a potential future career.
