This topic introduces themes and practices related to the development of healthy leadership for ministry in the church. Self-awareness, congregational awareness and the complexity of the interactions between the two will be studied within pastoral formation frameworks.
The aims of this topic are to:
provide opportunities for enhancing self-awareness in the areas of emotion, cognition and spirituality for leadership
encourage informed and reflective congregational/systems awareness
explore values in relation to leadership challenges in pastoral ministries
encourage safe environments for exploring critical theological reflection on relationships between God, self and others
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:
define and discuss the role of the self in leadership
analyse their personal attributes and opportunities for growth in their ministry and leadership roles
demonstrate knowledge and skills in congregational contextual analysis
