Topic description

This topic offers students high-level instruction in Geographical Information Systems (GIS. The topic will extend the students' knowledge of spatial information theory and expose them to new tools and methodologies. The topic will develop an understanding of spatial data management, editing, visualization and communication including web delivery systems.

Educational aims

This topic aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of advanced GIS methodologies for editing and management spatial information.

Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an advanced ability to create, edit and manage spatial information
  2. Demonstrate an advanced ability to create, edit and build topologically correct spatial information in an enterprise spatial information system
  3. Author and publish mapping services for delivery in an on-line environment
  4. Build map centric sites in a cloud environment
  5. Demonstrate an advance ability to visualize spatial information in both 2D and 3D environments
