Topic description
The topic provides each student with the fundamental practice principles underpinning cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT). The topic is delivered as an intensive workshop and online modules. The content includes medico-legal considerations, ethics in counselling and psychotherapy, and stepped-care models in mental health. Also included is clinical supervision, case formulations and behavioural activation.
Educational aims
The topic aims to offer students applied learning opportunities that ensure fundamental principles underpinning cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) are recognised and demonstrated. Students will gain a clear understanding of a stepped-care approach to cognitive and behavioural assessment and interventions guided by evidence-based models of care. Particular consideration is given to clinical supervision frameworks and reflective practice principles.
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of this topic students will be able to:
