Topic description

Advanced Corporate Law builds on knowledge acquired in the core Corporate Law curriculum and provides an opportunity for deeper exploration and enhanced understanding of issues that would not have been covered in the core curriculum. The topic will cover issues that are current at the time of offering, and may include aspects such as corporate theory; issues in relation to corporate governance; insider trading and other types of securities fraud; take over regulation; and corporations and human rights.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Provide students with an enhanced understanding of policy principles underpinning corporate regulation
  • Provide students with the ability to recognise legal issues in the context of Corporate Law and to research solutions to those issues where appropriate
  • Promote group learning and interaction so that students may benefit from each other's knowledge and experience
  • Ensure that students have the opportunity to become proficient in a range of communication media including verbal presentations, problem-solving and written assessment using advanced research and presentation technologies relevant to their careers
Expected learning outcomes
