This topic assists teachers to arrive at a concept of Asian arts, whilst exploring the relevance of colonial or imperial-inspired geo-political divisions of the Asian landmass in terms of the history of arts. The topic will demonstrate to teachers the difficulties inherent in applying the traditional Western approach to Asian arts as evidence by the fact that the concept of 'history' is alien to certain Asian cultures. The topic also demonstrates that the curriculum developed by teachers can assist students to gain an understanding of the way artworks are made within different social and political groups.
