This topic is designed to develop specialised knowledge of the inter-curricula links in early childhood pedagogies. Through a focus on the design technology learning area, the topic will build on students' broad understandings of English and mathematical knowledge, learning and teaching in multiliterate and numerate practices. Students will investigate how these numerate and multiliterate practices are embedded in social and political contexts. Students will be expected to interpret the evolving body of research associated with the intersection between multiliteracies, numeracy and design technology and justify their pedagogical approach.
