Topic description
All students are required to prepare an audition package for entry into the profession. This work is devised and presented in second semester. All students are also required in at least one major production in the mid-semester break.

Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  1. Develop an understanding of professional rehearsal techniques and practices as used in the theatre, television, and film industries

  2. Apply performance techniques in acting and directing to a production context

  3. Give students the experience of working in front of a live audience in a variety of different performance venues
Expected learning outcomes
Upon completing this topic students will:

  • have a greater understanding of professional rehearsal techniques and practices

  • have developed the facility to work within an ensemble context

  • have developed the ability to:

    • express complex ideas and feelings within a performance form

    • communicate with a live audience

    • communicate through electronic media
