Topic description
Students undertake an individual or collaborative project on a Drama or Creative Arts topic. Suitable topics will provide scope for students to develop in-depth knowledge about an aspect of Drama and live performance; to acquire relevant analytical and critical skills to respond to and engage in a creative process; to demonstrate their learning through collaboration and applying research to a performance or Creative Arts project.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • enable students to develop in-depth knowledge on a topic in Drama and/or the Creative Arts;

  • enable students to explore relevant theories, methodologies and debates in Creative Arts scholarship and performance practice;

  • enable students to present their learning through independent or collaborative academic and performance practice;

  • develop students’ research skills in devising, investigating, analysing and critiquing performance.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to demonstrate:

  • in-depth knowledge of a topic in Drama and/or the Creative Arts;

  • an awareness of relevant scholarship in Drama and the Creative Arts, including some methodologies debates within practice-led research;

  • appropriate research skills in devising, investigating, analysing and critiquing performance;

  • an ability to present learning in an appropriate independent/collaborative academic form or performance practice.
