Topic description

The purpose of this topic is for Honours students to increase their understanding of professional practice in the creative arts. The primary focus is the intensive workshops, which will give participants the opportunity to share ideas, receive feedback and pitch a major creative work. The assessment tasks will enable students to develop, plan, budget and schedule the production of a major creative work. Participants will be able to focus on particular aspects of assessment that meet their artistic specialisation while acquiring skills and knowledge relevant to industry and to creative arts within the academy.

Educational aims

This topic aims for honours creative arts students to have skills and knowledge to both prepare them for possible HDR study and to be prepared to enter the creative arts workforce as artists and/or arts workers.

Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Discuss their high level understanding of the creative arts industry and their own place within it
  2. Explain key principles and techniques related to ethical pitching, budgets, and project development and management in the context of the creative arts
  3. Adapt their professional knowledge to their own creative practice
  4. Model high level written and verbal communication skills
