BUSN7200 Honours Thesis (18 units)

Students will design and carry out an independent empirical investigation and report their findings, leading to a thesis, under the supervision of a member of the academic staff in the College of Business, Government and Law. The thesis must provide evidence of the student's abilities in researching and evaluating information; constructing, testing and defending an argument and critically examining the dominant literature and theories in their area of enquiry.

This topic aims to:

• Provide an opportunity for students to develop an understanding of research and the skills necessary to conduct a study in an area of the student's interest, with the assistance of a supervisor
• Provide the chance to enhance research skills by working in an intensive way and reading widely on a particular issue
• Enable a student to show originality in the writing of an extended piece of argument which is supported by a range of evidence
• Adequately prepare the student for postgraduate work

2. Define an appropriate research problem and relate it to the relevant theoretical literature
4. Design an appropriate research methodology to address a selected problem
6. Collect, and/or analyse and interpret data relating to the selected research problem
8. Communicate research results clearly and concisely according to scholarly practice
