This topic provides students with an overview of cultural heritage management with an international perspective. The topic will examine the theory and practice of the management of Indigenous, historical and maritime archaeological sites as well as the built heritage and cultural landscapes. Several issues will be examined including world heritage places and their management, commonwealth and state legislation within Australia, concepts of heritage significance, conservation management plans and how heritage is used to construct identity.
