Student hero of the week

Flinders business student Koby has the heartfelt gratitude of Adelaide couple Geoff and Cynthia Killian for the ‘knight in shining armour’ support he gave them last week. Read more.

Food trucks on campus

Moorish Bites, Taste of Spain, and Beyond India food trucks will be on campus throughout April to June at Anchor Court and Sturt. See the Flinders website for information about dates and times.

World Health Day - freebies and games in the Hub

To celebrate World Health Day next week, Flinders Uni Sport & Fitness will be in the Hub giving away freebies! Visit them to participate in free health and fitness testing, games and activities. Date: Monday 8 April. Time: 10am– 2pm. Location: Bedford Park Hub

Can you spare a can of food for a good cause? 

The team at Flinders Uni Sport & Fitness are asking any students who can, to donate some tinned food to their Foodbank drive for those less fortunate. Tinned food such as canned fruit, vegetables and tuna are particularly in short supply. Donation boxes will be at Flinders Uni Sport & Fitness reception area from Monday 8 April to Friday 12 April.

Multicultural Potluck Dinner at Oasis

If you’re from the Indo-Pacific, or interested in the region, you’re invited to meet and mingle with other likeminded students at the Multicultural Potluck dinner. A potluck is a communal meal where everybody brings one dish to share, forming a wonderful spread of food. Details on the Facebook event page .

Drop in to the Student Learning Centre (SLC) Learning Lounge for help with academic writing, maths and statistics, referencing and English Language support. Improve your mental health and wellbeing through SAHMRI’s free online program 

In partnership with the SAHMRI Wellbeing and Resilience Centre, EPSW is providing students access to an interactive wellbeing and resilience resource called Complete Mental Health. Through this free web-based resource, you can access personalised tips and techniques to build and improve your mental health and wellbeing. (All collected personal information and responses will be de-identified and is completely confidential). Check your Flinders student email for a link to the program.

International student support

Settling in to life and study abroad can be challenging. To help you do this, the University offers specific support to help international students succeed at Flinders through the International Student Services (ISS) team. If you would like to speak with someone about your studies, or if you are having any difficulties, the ISS team can help. StudyAdelaide Seminar - Visas and Employment in SA

Are you an international student interested in living and working in South Australia? We know that visas, working rights and immigration can be a confusing topic so we invite you to attend this forum to learn about your options and employability in South Australia. Your Work Rights

As an international student you are entitled to work part-time during your studies. For information about how many hours you can work and when, visit our working while studying page. For additional information about your student visa work conditions see the Department of Home Affairs webpage. You will also need to apply for a Tax File Number (TFN) if you want to work in Australia.

A review of the student learning management system (LMS), known as Flinders Learning Online (FLO), is currently underway. Your feedback is crucial to ensure any decisions made will meet the needs of Flinders students. You can provide your feedback by completing a short 10-minute survey before Friday 5 April.
