The Law Pathway is offered as part of the Bachelor of Law and Society and requires one year of full-time study (or the equivalent part-time). The Law Pathway is offered by the College of Business, Government and Law. Upon successful completion of the one year Law Pathway, students will transfer to one of the courses listed under the Program of Study below.

The Law Pathway has different admission requirements to the Bachelor of Law and Society. In order to undertake the Law Pathway commencing students must apply for admission to the Law Pathway through SATAC.

Admission requirements

The minimum requirements for consideration for entry to all undergraduate courses are specified in detail in the University Entry Requirements.

Students who have completed tertiary study which included any of the pathway topics in Criminology, Justice and Society, Law or Legal Studies or equivalent would normally be required to have achieved a grade of credit or better in those topics to be considered for entry.

Program of Study

After successful completion of the one year Law Pathway, students will transfer to one of the following courses:

  • the combined degree of Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice, Bachelor of Law and Society.  Students will be guaranteed entry on the condition that a GPA of 5.00 (Credit) or higher is achieved over the 36 units of study and a grade of Pass or higher has been achieved in the four LLAW topics. Upon transferring students will receive 36 units of credit (18 units towards the Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice for LLAW1211, LLAW1212, LLAW1213 and LLAW1221 and 18 units towards the Bachelor of Law and Society).
  • the Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice.  Students will be guaranteed entry on the condition that a GPA of 5.00 (Credit) or higher is achieved over the 36 units of study and a grade of Pass  or higher has been achieved in the four LLAW topics. Upon transferring students will receive 18 units of credit for LLAW1211, LLAW1212, LLAW1213 and LLAW1221.
  • the Bachelor of Law and Society. Upon transferring students will receive 36 units of credit.

Students who do not meet the criteria for guaranteed entry into the Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice or combined degree of Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice, Bachelor of Law and Society may apply to transfer into these degrees via the normal competitive admission process.

The award of a grade of Fail on more than one occasion in the same LLAW topic may constitute prima facie evidence of unsatisfactory progress for the purposes of the University’s Policy on Student Progress.
