Topic description
This topic extends the cognitive, creative and technical skills which are required for the pre-production stage of the Major Production Project. As part of this topic, the creative team will develop an industry standard pitch for the Major Production Project.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • provide opportunities for students to apply advanced cognitive, technical and creative skills in the their specialised field, under the broad direction of industry mentors

  • enhance students’ ability to work collaboratively in small teams as part of the production pipeline

  • provide high-level skills in negotiating with clients and colleagues

  • provide opportunities for students to incorporate professional feedback into their creative and/or technical practice

  • consolidate students’ specialised knowledge of, and skills in, the use of relevant industry software and hardware
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • demonstrate advanced level creative, cognitive and technical skills in their specialised digital media field, and the ability to apply these with initiative to new concepts, to an industry standard

  • demonstrate the ability to receive feedback on their skills from industry mentors in a professional manner, and incorporate this into their practice

  • investigate, analyse and synthesise complex information related to the production pipeline and apply these in professional practice

  • reflect critically on the theory and processes involved in the pre-production phase of a major creative product

    demonstrate extensive knowledge of, and proficiency in, the use of relevant industry software and hardware used in the digital production pipeline
